Luncheon Report: The Candy Man, Lloyd Bowen and other matters!

Folks….

For a change the jokes and stories were well received by the 22 or so attendees at the Tuesday, July 11th Atlanta REPA Luncheon… A nice improvement over our recent attempts at humor!

We were pleased to see former Chicago then Atlanta then Miami Eastern Pilot Crew Scheduler, Lloyd Bowen, who attended for his first time… Lloyd later was invited to draw the tickets for the first ($15.00) Door Prize and cleverly managed to pull one of his own tickets out!

Also present was a fellow we had not seen in a very long time, the Candy Man His Ownself, Chuck Taliaferro!

Also a bit of a surprise was Ernie Boetz showing up wearing one of the 1960’s era light blue uniform shirts (with embroidered wings) that Eastern bought for us way back then…

REPA Prez Johnny Steinmetz and First Lady Patti also came and gave us a good report on the pleasures awaiting those who attend the REPA Convention at the Hyatt Regency in Birmingham commencing on September 5th…

Reminder that the last date to make reservations at the REPA Rate is August 4th… The hotel number is 1-888-591-1234 (Toll Free) or 1-205-705-11234… Be sure and advise them that you are calling about the REPA Convention…

Our other Door Prize winners were the Candy Man ($10.00) and Bob Burson ($5.00)…

Atlanta REPA Luncheon Notice, Tuesday, July 11th...

Despite Virgil’s efforts we will not have a speaker for next Tuesday’s Atlanta REPA Luncheon (July 11th)…

So it will be necessary for us to entertain ourselves once more!

Virgil and I have about used up our supply of funny and not-so-funny jokes/stories so we need some help in that department…

On another subject; Traci Drummond, the Georgia State Library lady who spoke to us last winter advises that on July 29th there will be a special presentation of the Eastern Air Lines exhibits for the Eastern Family from 1:00-3:00 PM at the GSU library.

Virgil will have more information on this at the Luncheon…

Same place and time, Piccadilly Cafeteria at 11:00 AM, when they open…

What Happened in Atlanta on June 13th

Folks…..

We had a nice turnout for the June Atlanta REPA Luncheon today…

No Program but No Problem!

We were able to entertain ourselves with jokes and such…

Amazingly the best two were by Keith Crosby who was not even there!!!

Standing in for him was your Humble Scribe, who quickly regretted telling the crowd that those two he was about to present were sent to him by Keith last night!

Anyhow there were a few other feeble attempts at humor; one or two actually got some polite laughs…

We did have the usual cash drawing but also had a Jim Whitlock color print of an Eastern Connie, donated by Virgil Tedder and a REPA Tag Frame, donated by the HS …

And the winners were!

$15 Tom Gray, $10 Curtiss Barnette, $5 Don Teel, Connie Print Bob Fuhrman and the REPA Tag Frame by Bob Drawdy…

Reminder for the June 13th Atlanta REPA Luncheon!!!

Folks….

Well, we had a great speaker lined up for next Tuesday’s Atlanta REPA Luncheon…

He promised with his A/V Presentation to “not put anyone to sleep”, as it is about Sea Planes…

But he had to postpone his presentation!

It is now set up for November though so mark your calendar, Tuesday November 14th…

Instead we are forced to once more entertain ourselves…

If you folks don’t come prepared Virgil and I will be forced to tell you some EAL PHC stories! (that stands for Eastern Air Lines Pilots Hunt Club)…

Come to think of it they probably are more entertaining than what we have been suffering (both as “Tellers” and “Hearers”) through recently…

As before we gather (some few limping) at the Piccadilly Cafeteria on Godby Road, just off Old National Highway, just south of I-285.

All this just SW of the Atlanta Airport…

It opens at 11:00 AM…
