EAL Radio Show Episode 320 Memorial Day

Folks….

EAL Radio Host retired Eastern Captain Neal Holland recognizes that REPA is, and has been, a major sponsor for the Eastern Radio Show each Monday night at 7:00 PM.

He has therefore asked us to invite all those on the EALinfo Email Net to listen in next Monday night (May 29th), as the theme on Episode 320 will be the honoring those who did serve or now are serving in our Armed Forces: Monday being Memorial Day!

One can listen in by phone, 1-213-816-1611 or by going to www.ealradioshow.com, and there click on www.blogtalkradio.com/capteddie or going straight to  www.blogtalkradio.com/capteddie.

There look for On-Demand Episodes then find EAL Radio Episode 320 and click on the start arrow to the left and you will be listening (and talking if you have a microphone plugged in on your computer).

Clearly the simplest way is by Cell Phone call to 213-816-1611!

If you are planning to join in on the conversation please make sure that there are not any background noises, such as TV’s, other conversations and so on…

Atlanta REPA Luncheon Report and another Eastern Pilot found for the Bronze Memorial

Folks….

It is a pleasant change to be able to have a message to send out other than the passing of another of our group… We did report on the deaths of eleven retired Eastern Captains today at the May Atlanta REPA Luncheon… Three of which happened in the last few days…

Anyhow we did have a nice lunch at the Piccadilly Cafeteria and thereafter got to telling jokes and stories, which, for a change, actually contained some that were funny…

Also today we had Nick Roberts in attendance, first time we have seen Nick in a long time…

That was about it except for the drawing for three cash Door Prizes…

Bob Drawdy had a ticket ($2.00 buys three) drawn first and elected to take the $5.00 (he does that sometimes!)… Then Virgil Tedder kept calling out the next winning ticket with no responses! He then checked and saw it was his! So he claimed the $10.00… The next ticket called belonged to Bob Drawdy again however he deferred and so Joe Forrest was able to take home $8.00…

We got a message from Captain John Lundblad today, saying his wife, Alice, had a college roommate whose father was an Eastern Pilot… All Alice could remember was that his name was Johnson and that he hired on in the early 1950’s… She thought maybe he was killed in a plane crash…

So armed with that information our Treasurer, Jerry Frost, was able to search old records (not a Seniority List as we had absolutely no lists from the 1950’s) and found that a R. A. Johnson did hire on with Eastern on July 16, 1951 and was based in Miami!

Point being taken was us having our group eye-ball the Bronze Memorial, in person or by computer, is paying off… Mr. Johnson will now be added to the Addendum that will be cast later on this year…

Reminder for the May 9th Atlanta REPA Luncheon

Folks….

Time to remind all that the May Atlanta REPA Luncheon is drawing nigh!

Next Tuesday, May 9th, we will again be meeting at the Piccadilly Cafeteria located on Godby Road just off Old National Highway… Most start arriving at 11:00 AM when they open up…

At the April Luncheon we discussed a possible relocation to the Golden Corral located on GA 138 where it intersects with I-75 South…

This would be a longer drive for some, a shorter drive for some and not much change for some… A straw poll was taken of those attending and it was very much in favor of not changing our location…

However it was suggested that we have a trial luncheon there to check on the food quality and how much travel time it saves (or lost) for us…

So we will be discussing the possibility of a trial luncheon at the Golden Corral above…

Also no program this time so we will be depending on the usual effort made by ourselves to entertain ourselves…

So please bring a joke or war story or you will be subjected to the usual bad jokes/stories by Virgil and your Humble Servant!
