Opening reception September 7, 2017, with guest speaker Martha Hamilton. Light refreshments and exhibit viewing to follow.
We are pleased to invite you to a discussion with Martha Hamilton about the days leading up to Eastern Air Lines’ closure in 1991. A journalist for the Washington Post at the time, Hamilton closely covered the airline’s uncertain trajectory until its final flight. To give Eastern’s demise broader context, she’ll consider what works best to nurture competitive markets: deregulation or keeping businesses from growing so big that they dominate. Hamilton currently writes for the Pulitzer-prize winning International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

Luncheon Report: The Candy Man, Lloyd Bowen and other matters!

For a change the jokes and stories were well received by the 22 or so attendees at the Tuesday, July 11th Atlanta REPA Luncheon… A nice improvement over our recent attempts at humor!

We were pleased to see former Chicago then Atlanta then Miami Eastern Pilot Crew Scheduler, Lloyd Bowen, who attended for his first time… Lloyd later was invited to draw the tickets for the first ($15.00) Door Prize and cleverly managed to pull one of his own tickets out!

Also present was a fellow we had not seen in a very long time, the Candy Man His Ownself, Chuck Taliaferro!

Also a bit of a surprise was Ernie Boetz showing up wearing one of the 1960’s era light blue uniform shirts (with embroidered wings) that Eastern bought for us way back then…

REPA Prez Johnny Steinmetz and First Lady Patti also came and gave us a good report on the pleasures awaiting those who attend the REPA Convention at the Hyatt Regency in Birmingham commencing on September 5th…

Reminder that the last date to make reservations at the REPA Rate is August 4th… The hotel number is 1-888-591-1234 (Toll Free) or 1-205-705-11234… Be sure and advise them that you are calling about the REPA Convention…

Our other Door Prize winners were the Candy Man ($10.00) and Bob Burson ($5.00)…
